Wow I can’t believe it’s the end of August!! This month has been absolutely crazy! I’ve been so busy travelling and spending time with my mom that the time just flew by! Now I’m hastily trying to pack, clean out my apartment, work, do end of contract stuff, finish up with last minute things, and not go crazy with feeling overwhelmed! I feel bad about not blogging for so long, and since I’ll be moving to Vancouver on Saturday, and jumping right into university on September 3rd, I know it’s going to be a while before I get another chance to blog.
This is a continuation of some of the food I tried while I was on my recent Thailand adventure. Again, my apologies for the photo quality, hopefully you can overlook the blurry-ness of some and poor lighting of others, and just enjoy them anyways!
As you can see from this, and Part 1 of the post, I ate some rather adventurous foods. I think that when you go somewhere new, you should really take advantage of the new-ness of everything! So foods that maybe are strange or wierd to you back home, and are normal for the people here, are things you should try. So yes, I tried as many of the new-to-me foods as I could.
any kind of insects deep fried just taste like deep fry. So although some people might like this flavour- I actually do not. Continue reading →
Wow! What an amazing trip! I was only gone 10 days and yet managed to cram in as much as possible! I traveled from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, stayed there for 2 nights, then up to Pai for 3 nights, back down through Bangkok to Ko Chang for 4 nights and then back to Bangkok and home! I made so many wonderful friends, enjoyed incredible experiences, saw all kinds of sites, had amazing food, and I challenged myself in new ways. I did everything from a cooking class, ziplining, jungle trekking (where we actually built our own bamboo shelter), city walking tours, night markets, street markets, scootering, hiking, swimming in waterfalls, snorkelling, elephant riding to massage and even more! I keep thinking it was my first solo adventure- but actually it wasn’t: I went to Korea on my own, have traveled quite a bit here and also did my own excursions in Quebec and Montreal and some more of the rural areas there. Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I will be away for the next 10 days! I am making a solo trip to Thailand!!! I’m so excited to explore the jungle, go trekking, experience a different culture, meet new people, try amazing foods, take a cooking class, scuba dive- and who knows what else!
As you can see- I’ve given myself a Thai-inspired manicure just for the occasion. You might have noticed that I usually have nail art- and yes, I do it myself 🙂 Frugal girl right here!
Anyways, I have scheduled one post for while I’m away, so you can look forward to that. You can sign up to be notified (just enter in the email signup box on my homepage) or just check back during the week.
I’m so excited to travel! And really looking forward to the cooking class! 🙂 Mmmm I’m sure I will have some Thai-inspired recipes developing after 🙂
Have you been to Thailand before? (This will be my first time)
Have you ever traveled solo somewhere? (I’ve travelled to Quebec and Korea solo)
