Enormous Kabocha Protein Shake

IMG_1914If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you may have noticed the lack of shake recipes and the plethora of protein cake recipes. (Check here and here for some awesome ones.) And that is because I always like to eat my calories, rather than drink them. Personally, if I drink a protein shake that is just powder mixed with water, I’m not going to feel satiated at all. There is nothing satisfying about that either!

However, throw in a whole bunch of ice cubes, add a couple secret ingredients, and voila! You have yourself a super filling, super satisfying, creamy delicious protein shake masterpiece what will make you feel full, satisfied and super happy! Or at least that’s how I feel. And for only a few extra calories.  Continue reading

Erythritol and Sugared Beans without the Sugar

Hello there!

So before I get into today’s post, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for all the outpouring of love, support and such positive comments I received from last week’s post (here). That was my post popular post to date. I received so many personal emails and messages from both friends, family and strangers which really means so much to me. Weight gain is a struggle for everyone, so I know a lot of people out there can relate to it. I am definitely feeling a lot better in my body now, and especially by reading people like Molly Galbraith (Is Being Really Lean Worth it? and It’s Hard out Here for a Fit Chick), feel like I’m on the right track towards self-acceptance.

It’s definitely a journey but I am keeping my eyes on the future and knowing that I’m going to come out of this healthier, happier, fitter and more on top in the long run 🙂 Continue reading

Spiced Roasted Black Soy Beans

I thought life would slow down a bit after my fitness competition.

I was wrong.

It’s only gotten busier! I don’t even know where all my time goes- but it’s been so hard to find the time to blog!

My workout routine has changed a little bit- now I’m going to the gym everyday. There used to be days where I would be only doing cardio, so I didn’t need to go to the gym- but now actually I’m there everyday.

Even Sundays. Continue reading

Salty Citrus-y Mackerel

I have to say that this recipe is AWESOME!

Really!

And that’s not to say that the other recipes that I post aren’t. They’re good too. But this recipe is seriously fantastic. Unless you don’t like fish. orangemackerel (29 of 31)

As you know, I LOVE kabocha. Love Love Love Love Love Love Love kabocha!!! Actually now, I get a discount at my local “Angel Home Mart”- just a random Korean grocery store on danhobak  단호박, as it’s called here. I told them it is my favourite, and because they like me, they say “special discount, only for you” 🙂 Continue reading

Tom Yam Soup with Mackerel (or frogs!)

Happy Lunar New Year everyone!  And although it is the Year of the Snake, I’m posting something with frogs- if you so dare!_MG_1286Okay so I made this soup with mackerel, a perfectly normal fish, when I made this at home.. however- I did partake in jungle frog Tom Yam soup when I went on a trek in the Northern Thailand jungle. Salsa+Olive Stuffed Pollack

********At the time this post is published, I will be enjoying myself on holiday in Thailand! However, I wanted to give you something despite being away 🙂 *******

So remember a few weeks ago, when I said I wanted to incorporate more fish into my diet?_MG_0962

Well I have been! And I have to say that it really isn’t so scary after all to deal with fish heads-the more you handle them the less freaky. Continue reading

A Lighter Bulgogi Japchae (Korean style beef and noodle stir-fry)

So this dish is kinda a Bulgogi/ Japchae hybrid. Bulgogi is a Korean beef dish- marinated beef stir-fried in a sweet sauce with some vegetables and Japchae is stirfried sweet potato noodles and vegetables in a sweet sesame soy dressing. However mine is minus the high fat, high carbs, sugar and noodles. _MG_0646 With the help of aloe noodles (or kelp noodles) this dish gets slimmed down, and I use Continue reading
