Where to buy Protein Powder in Korea

Before I get into this week’s post- I want to recommend you all head over to Kimchi Bytes and check out this article by Brent Sheffield. It’s about the outdoor exercise equipment in Korea, and I am the lovely female model you see enjoying herself with the gorgeous male model- Paul Wiltshire. It was so much fun to do and I was very honoured to have been asked!

I think this will be a helpful post for people- so even though I’m leaving in less than 2 months, I thought I’d share what I’ve learned about buying protein powder while in Korea.

If you, like me, like your protein powder then you may be trying to figure out the most cost effective way to find a supply while over here.

I have tried a few different sites so I’ll give my experience and reviews.

It even says “protein bland” in the caption. I should have known!

1. Gmarket.

Okay so this was the worst protein powder I’ve ever had in my life. Do NOT buy it. It was awful. It’s by One Day Nutrition and tastes like garbage.

Pros:

  • cheap and fast delivery
  • easy to find
  • no shipping fee
  • can use the English site

Cons:

  • tastes like garbage
  • it sucks in every way. I don’t think I need to go into details here.

2. SpeedNS.co.kr

ON Whey

ON Whey

I used this website twice to buy two bags of ON Whey last year. It was a good deal, but the bags were huge! So you get pretty tired of the flavour. The shipping took about 5 days I think and cost 10,000 won (for shipping). I bought two 10 pound bags for a good deal, I don’t remember anymore.

Pros:

  • you can find good deals on bulk orders
  • they also sell other supplements for good prices
  • have brands that are well recognized

Cons:

  • to get the best deal you need to order bulk
  • there is a shipping fee
  • the site is in Korean
  • you’ll need a Korean friend to help you make your order (at least I did)

3. 365Muscle.com

Dymatize_Elite_Casein_-_Cinnamon_Bun

Dymatize Cinnamon Bun Casein- sooo good!

Most recently, I ordered from this site at the recommendation of a friend of mine who is a trainer. I found that it was a good deal to order in bulk and then split the order with some friends of mine. I ordered two kinds of whey protein (both 5lbs), one casein (4lbs) and some Glutamine. (The casein I ordered was the Cinnamon Roll by Dymatize and it is awesome!!)

Pros:

  • again, you can find good deals on bulk orders
  • they also sell many other supplements for good prices
  • have lots of brands that are well recognized
  • give you freebies with your order (I received some individual protein powder packets, pre workouts, etc)

Cons:

  • to get the best deal you need to order bulk
  • there is a shipping fee
  • the site is in Korean
  • you’ll need a Korean friend to help you make your order (at least I did)

And finally, I’ve used

4. iherb.com

MRM-72016-0

MRM’s Low Carb Protein

Iherb is pretty much a go to favourite of mine. They have good prices and often have shipping deals. If you are making a small order, like for a 1lb bag, I think this is your best option. Also, if you wanted to try something before you commit to a larger size, again I would suggest here. (And you can use my code if it’s your first time ordering to get a discount- AJO567, “o” as in ocean. Thanks for showing your appreciation for my site!)

Pros:

  • good deals on small orders
  • they also everything else you could want
  • the site is in English
  • you can read reviews of the items you want

Cons:

  • because you are doing a smaller order, the price isn’t as cheap as bulk
  • there may be a shipping fee

So there you have it- my recommendations on where to buy protein powder!

Now I’ll have to start looking into where to buy it in Canada for the best price… any recommendations?
